Mira
Mobile SDK
Jon Frangakis

Our mobile SDK had unrealized value in the data we were collecting. Now that Exapik is baked into our partner compensation model, not only has distribution of our SDK almost doubled, but we’ve added new revenue and acquired key 3rd party data sets needed to enhance our service.

Partnering with Exapik results in

  • New recurring monthly revenue stream
  • Double their distribution inside mobile apps

Background

Mira gives mobile app developers a way of monetizing their applications, without the use of in-app advertising. This is accomplished by using anonymous contextual data to power Digitial Out-of-Home displays (think: digital signage in malls or taxi tVs) in close proximity to users. Through innovative, privacy compliant techniques, they are able to maintain user privacy while still powering local “place-based” ad networks to better match ad content with users physically near those displays.

Opportunity

Mira needed help understanding the data ecosystem. They wanted to acquire new distribution of their SDK, value the data exhaust they were collecting, and understand how that data could be used in a privacy-compliant way to create new revenue for their mobile partners. Mira depends on distribution of its SDK to power its network. By providing a more compelling value proposition to their mobile app developer clients, it would increase the rate of growth. As Mira uses a paid distribution model where mobile app developers are compensated for installation of their SDK, they were limited in scaling their business by how much they could pay the app developers. Mira also needed data coverage in geographies not covered by their network, and sought to acquire third party data sources to enrich their network and provide a more compelling system.

Solution

Mira partnered with Exapik to

a) understand the value of the data they had,

b) create a new revenue stream for themselves and their mobile app developer clients, and

c) increase the coverage of their network by enriching their data with third party data sets.

Through one-on-one consultation with Exapik staff, Mira received first-hand expertise in valuing their current data inventory and refine their data strategy to prioritize acquisition of the highest value data segments.

Using the Exapik Monetization Platform, Mira was able to add new revenue from data buyers plugged in to the platform, passing on revenue back to their clients and in turn helping Mira achieve increased distribution. The turn-key nature of the Monetization Platform meant Mira could benefit from the revenue, without expending time and energy to identify and forge new relationships, build the technical integrations, or navigate complex legal processes.

Result

Mira app developer’s now receive 2X more revenue as a result of Exapik’s data monetization capabilities, and Mira has seen an increase in their SDK distribution as a result.

By working with data acquisition specialists at Exapik, Mira’s network now bolsters a much richer set of data in new geographies, allowing for expansion of their core service.
